The Moreno Valley City Council unanimously approved the “Hire MoVal Incentive Program” to encourage businesses to make a good faith effort to hire qualified Moreno Valley residents. The City has experienced success in its economic development efforts by bringing in businesses and creating jobs; encouraging businesses to hire Moreno Valley residents will further benefit our community.

“I’m pleased to announce that this Hire MoVal resolution and program will attract jobs along with local hires,” said Mayor Pro Tem Yxstian Gutierrez, who sponsored the Resolution. “Our unemployed residents deserve the dignity of a job and we need to “think outside the box” to bring jobs to our city. This local hire program will incentivize businesses and encourage business friendly practices so that employers hire locally,” he said.

Elements of the “Hire MoVal Incentive Program” include the use of the Moreno Valley Employment Resource Center to utilize workforce recruitment services to assist with job announcements, applicant testing, interviews, and job fair support. New businesses can also work with the City’s Community and Economic Development Department to coordinate and advertise job recruitment fairs.

A major highlight of the program will provide a financial incentive to new businesses served by the Moreno Valley Utility.  Businesses that apply and qualify for the Moreno Valley Utility Economic Development Rate program can also access an additional 2-4% electrical incentive rate reduction for hiring Moreno Valley residents.  To remain eligible for the additional electrical rate discount, all customers who participate in the “Hire MoVal Incentive Program” must annually certify the business’ Moreno Valley resident employment percentage.
